How Apple iOS 14 release may affect your ads campaign by Michel Lubac

Apple has announced changes with iOS 14 that will affect how we receive and process conversion events from tools such as the Facebook pixel. Businesses that advertise mobile apps, as well as those that optimise, target and report on web conversion events from any of our business tools will be affected.

Specifically, Apple will begin to require that all apps in the App Store show a discouraging prompt to users on iOS 14 devices, in accordance with their AppTrackingTransparency framework. Apple's policy will prohibit certain data collection and sharing unless people opt in to tracking on iOS 14 devices via the prompt. As more people opt out of tracking on iOS 14 devices, ads personalisation and performance reporting will be limited for both app and web conversion events.

Consumers use their mobile more to research future purchases. However, 70% continue their journey on another platform, offline or end up buying nothing.

In order to understand the main obstacles preventing consumers from going further, Google conducted a study in partnership with the firm SKIM, among more than 20,000 consumers in 15 countries.

Here Google offer 5 tips from this study to remove friction from the customer experience, and increase the mobile conversion rate from 4 to 7%

Facebook and Google continue to dominate in latest mobile ad Performance Index by Michel Lubac

Facebook leads when it comes to retention, remarketing, and in-app purchases.

But the data shows that the social network also charges more. Game developers are facing considerably higher costs in North America, Latin America, and Europe, while Google charges more in APAC regions.

When it comes to non-gaming categories, Google is more expensive with the exception of North America where Facebook has higher rates.

When broken down by platform, Google wins thanks to the domination of Android, but Facebook controls much of iOS.
